Schedule of ActivitiesSaturday, February 18, 2012 - SENIOR's Only Workshop conducted at NL Science & Technology Magnet High School. No fees. Open to general public. Start time 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2012 - Financial Aid Workshop conducted at NL Science & Technology Magnet High School. No fees. Open to general public. Start time 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Saturday, March 10, 2012 - Local College Fair conducted at NL Science & Technology Magnet High School. Admissions counselors from such schools as Eastern Connecticut State University, Johnson & Wales University, Mitchell College, Three Rivers Community College, and University of New Haven discuss admissions requirements and more. Start time 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. No fees. Open to general public. Saturday, March 31, 2012 - Pre-Tour Student Orientation conducted at NL Science & Technology Magnet High School. Start time 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Held for students attending the tour only. Thursday, April 5, 2012 - Pre-Tour Parent Orientation conducted at NL Science & Technology Magnet High School. Start time 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. April 8 - 14, 2012 - HBCU Tour July TBD, 2012 - HBCA Reunion, Washington Park, Groton, CT |
How to ApplyCost $310 per student (cost include hotel, transportation, student information package, and tee shirt) Students must submit an application, two letters of recommendation, and grade transcript along with a minimum deposit of $110. Deposit is non-refundable. Recommendation letter must be written by a school offical. Mail application package and payment to: HBCA, College Tour Committee, PO Box 1385, New London, CT 06320. The application & payment can be mailed seperately from the transcript and letters. Payment is required to reserve your spot. Once the student's application package is submitted in its entirety an interview will be setup with the tour committee. At least one parent must acompany the student at the interview. Students will be required to attend all workshops and orientations. Unexcussed absence may result in a rejection from the tour. Repeat students and students not living in New London, CT will be placed on a waiting list until Feb 11, 2012. We will start clearing the waiting list on Feb 11 giving priority to students who have submitted all required documents and payments. Students who were not selected from the waiting list will receive a full refund. No refunds will be granted if cancellation is made after the cancellation deadline indicated on the application.
